Tanya La Force, former Board Chair of the Children’s Science Center, was awarded the Mary Harriman Award on May 7, by the Junior League of Northern Virginia (JNLV).  The Mary Harriman Award for Leadership is presented every year to a woman who has been a sustaining member of the Junior League for a minimum of four years and has advanced the mission of the Junior League movement through her breadth and depth of leadership and community service. This award was established in 2005 to commemorate the energy, passion and vision of the Junior League founder, Mary Harriman.
“Tanya contributes everything she’s learned about leading a nonprofit organization, and speaks highly of the League,” JNLV President, Lori Ann Terjersen said of La Force. “Tanya is an accomplished non-profit and business leader with a proven track record of recruiting, leading and mentoring volunteers and employees to accomplish aggressive goals.”
Tanya most recently served as Board Chair for the Children’s Science Center and currently serves as Nominating Committee Chair. She has served on the board of directors for the Junior League of Northern Virginia and while living in China, was Contributor and Fundraising Chair to Passport Shanghai, a travel book that was published and sold for profit to benefit local charities.
